Maybe you have seen this story, but it's too good not to share.
This is a story that means a lot to me and i hope you all enjoy it. Being the compulsive editor that I am, I fixed a few of the mistakes that were in the original post. Puppies For Sale A store Owner was tacking a sign above his door that read "Puppies for Sale". Signs like that have a way of attracting small children and sure enough a little boy appeared under the store owner's sign. "How much are you gonna sell the puppies for"? The store owner replied, "Anywhere from $30 to $50. But I don't think you would have enough little boy.". Turning around, the owner continued to work on the sign for the puppies. The little boy was saddened by how the owner looked, but got an idea. He reached into his pocket and pulled out all his change. 'I have $2.37, can I see your puppies, please?' the little boy asked the owner. The owner smiled and whistled and outta the kennel came Lady, who ran down the aisle of his store, she was followed by five teeny, furry balls of fluff. One of the puppies was lagging far behind. Immediately the young boy picked out the lagging puppy and said "What's wrong with that little puppy"? The store owner explained the vet had checked out the puppy and discovered the puppy was lacking a hip socket. It would always be lame. "I want that one" the little boy said. The store owner said 'No, you don't want to buy that little dog. 'I have a lot of other puppies that will have more fun with you.' The little boy was quite upset with the store owner. He looked the owner in the eye and said, "I don want the other dogs, I want to buy him. He is worth just as much as any of the other dogs. In fact, I'll give you my $2.37 now and my allowance each month till I pay you in full.' The store owner countered, "You really don't want this little dog, he won't be able to jump, run or play with you like a normal dog and he is going to have medical problems all of his life.' In response, the little boy smiled. He then reached down and pulled his pant leg up to show his twisted and contorted leg, supported by a metal plate and braces. The little boy then said softly to the owner, "I don't run or jump all too well myself and the little puppy will need someone there who knows how it feels". The owner was so ashamed of himself. How could he be so cruel to the little dog. As the owner stood there brooding over his stupidity the pup cam over to him and sat in front of him. The owner squatted down and looked at the puppy with sadness and happiness in his eyes. Then the little dog moved a little closer to the owner and gave his hand a soft lick. This set the store owner off, crying about how he had acted towards the boy and the dog. Picking up the pup, the owner went over to the boy and handed the dog to him. 'He is all yours, little guy, take good care of him for me. ' The store owner ruffled the boy's hair and went back into the store as the boy turned and carried his new friend home. It's been 10 years now, and the boy is going to college and Bruce (the pup) is now an adult dog and still alive. As for the store owner, he always remembered that day and that boy. They changed him and he was not going to forget that lesson. |

That one's been around. -- It's a good story and I hope it happened, once upon a time. May all such puppies, and all such boys, find the friends they need. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wub.gif)

You are right, blue, TSL told me he had seen it before, but for some reason, I hadn't seen it, and it really was a sweet heartwarming story, so whether it is true or not is not as important as that it makes people think. I, like you, hope that somehow it was true and that a puppy and a little boy both are happier now. I usually don't post those kind of things because they are almost always some kind of hoax and often involve requiring the recipient to send it to all his friends, but since this one didn't do that and I liked it a lot, I figured why not share it. I notice that several people enjoyed it and I am glad that I posted it. I will try not to do that kind of thing too often, unless, like that time, It just hits me in the heart and moves me to do so.
Thanks for posting. Your Friend, Darryl |
